Today’s challenge is to experiment with fruits and/or vegetables

Remember, fruits and veggies in season will be more economical. You should also try out some of the frozen or canned varieties, which are a great option when you’re stuck for time.

10 ways to add more fruits and veggies to your diet today:

  1. Have grilled tomatoes and mushrooms with wholegrain toast, and a glass of whole orange juice for breakfast.
  2. Top your breakfast cereal with a banana, or a handful of dried fruit.
  3. For lunch have a leafy salad with, or in, your sandwich.
  4. Take a piece of fruit, or fruit salad for your mid-morning snack at work.
  5. Prepare sliced raw vegetables with a healthy dip, as your mid-afternoon snack.
  6. For dinner have two vegetables (fresh or frozen) with your meal.
  7. Add extra vegetables to your favourite dishes in place of some of the meat, for example stews, soups, curries, or casseroles.
  8. Grate or finely chop veggies into curries, soups or stews, or mash white beans into minced beef.
  9. Experiment with different styles of cooking – for example BBQ, or roasted vegetables. Or, how about poached pears?
  10. Serve a fruit based appetizer or dessert.

Have you tried any new fruit or vegetable recently?

This post is timely for me. I just had fennel for the first time yesterday. I’m from Michigan, I thought fennel was a type of shirt.

You’ll get it later, don’t worry.

    Hey Kevin,
Thanks for the comment. I’m glad the article was beneficial. Even the most dedicated of us need prodding in the right direction at times. I hope Dietriffic serves (at the very least) as a regular reminder to eat and live well.

I imagine your fennel tasted better than a flannel shirt 😉

    Hi Joanne,
It’s great that you love fruit and veg. I get quite a few visitors coming to my site from people wanting to eat healthy without eating fruit and vegetables.

I’d love to hear what new fruits you’re trying.

    Hi Jeanne,
It’s great when you find a new food like that which you enjoy. I haven’t had kumquats in a while, I’ll have to give them a go again too!

Thanks for giving the idea that in fruits or vegetables; my choice shouldn’t remain always the same. I love to eat apple often, thats always made me satisfied that this habit will keep me healthy but now I have realized that only the apple can’t maintain my all body requirements, I must try other stuff also.
